A political art retreat held in Chicago with around 80 participants from across the country. The gathering was organized by Rozalinda Borcila, Daniel Tucker, Robin Hewlett, Nicolas Lampert, Abby Satinsky, with additional organizing help by Michael Thomas, Nato Thompson, and Rachel Wallis. The retreat began by prompting discussion on cultural work in relation to social movement building, especially anti-oppression, racial justice and poor people’s struggles. We shared examples of inspiring and meaningful work across different scales (from the immediate and local, to the regional or global) and workshopped possibilities for constituting and actualizing new forms of association. See a list of some of the participants here, see the meeting agenda here, and some photos of notes here.
